what makes open gym different from other gyms?

We strive to help you become the healthiest version of yourself that you can possibly be. Everything that you get out of here can be transferred into the real world. We are going to keep you moving, and moving correctly, so that you can still be moving in 20-30 years. You don’t need to come in 7 days a week with high intensity training. Come in 3-5 times a week and just stay moving.

Community

The minute you step foot in this gym you are accepted. Open Gym is composed of many different types of people, with different jobs, backgrounds, and ages. We motivate each other, and everyone gives the person next to them that extra push they need to keep on making small steps each day to getting healthy.

Nutrition

We are big believers in changing lives here. If we can make a hypertension patient off of their blood pressure medicine or a diabetic off of their insulin with exercise and good nutrition, those are huge achievements! And you aren’t the only one celebrating those steps, everyone around you is celebrating together!

What is high-intensity interval training (HIIT)?

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of interval training, a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recover periods. Though there is no universal HIIT session duration, these intense workouts typically last under 30 minutes, with times varying based on a participant’s current fitness level. The intensity of HIIT also depends on the duration of the session. There is no specific formula to HIIT. Depending on one’s level of cardiovascular development, the moderate-level intensity can be as slow as walking. A common formula involves a 2:1 ratio of work to recovery periods. (Wikipedia)
